Victim Care and Advice Service Support Officer

Responsible to: Victim Care and Advice Service Lead

Location: Corvette House, Falcon Court, Stockton

Safer Communities has adopted agile working arrangements allowing staff to work from home and or in other agencies, community setting and police stations as appropriate and agreed by Senior Management.

Salary: £23,949.58 pa pro rata 15 hours per week working Mondays and Tuesdays

Mileage: Will be provided at £0.45p per mile. Insurance covering business use is required to claim mileage.

Hours of work: Working days for this role will be Mondays and Tuesdays.

Role Purpose:
To provide comprehensive and effective administrative and operational support for the VCAS Team, general office administrative support and continuous improvement of the administration functions.

What are we looking for?
  • Provide comprehensive and effective administrative support for the VCAS Team, general office administrative support and will take responsibility for the continuous improvement of the administration functions.
  • Receive and make support phone calls to victims of Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour, triaging their needs and adopting a problem-solving approach to deliver high level victim care. For complex cases, details will be recorded on a Case Management System (CMS) and forwarded to Victim Care Officers to deliver ongoing support.
  • To deliver a professional and effective support to vulnerable victims of crime and ASB. To speak directly with those affected by crime providing emotional support and making onward referrals to partner agencies
  • Ensure we offer a range of contact methods for victims accessing the service and that the needs of those with protected characteristics and from marginalised groups receive anti-discriminatory services that best suit their needs
  • To access the Safer Communities VCAS CMS to accurately record Client information, details of the crime, Needs Assessments and recovery Plans. There will be a requirement to create accurate case notes relating to ongoing cases.
  • Assist in the communication and promotion of VCAS, within vulnerable groups and those with protected characteristics.
  • Work creatively to raise awareness of VCAS with other agencies, and to promote all Safer Communities services to professionals, general-public groups and events
  • Assist in developing and maintaining the Social Media profile of the Service.
  • Book and prepare meeting rooms, organise refreshments and other requirements for meetings, activities and events.
  • Attending formal meetings to take notes and transcribe as required.
  • Undertaking supervision and relevant training as deemed necessary to fulfil the duties required.
